PreSchool: From Giants and Spiders to Courage and Cookies
The Preschool Students are learning about insects and spiders. We learned this song:
sang to the tune of "I'm a little teapot."
I'm a little insect with 6 legs,
We don't have a heart but we all lay eggs.
My body has 3 parts, yeah, 3 not 10,
A THORAX a HEAD and an ABDOMEN!
During STEAM time we hiked the TCS campus in search of items to create our "Spider-arium"
We found a spider and put it in the Spiderarium for observations. It spun a web!
Choose Love!
The whole TCS community is adopting the "Choose Love" movement by Scarlett Lewis and PreSchool is no exception!
We learned the 1st of the 4 ingredients in Choosing Love which is COURAGE!
We learned how to take a "brave breath" which might come in handy while learning about spiders!
We measured, mixed and baked up some yummy
"Choose Love" sugar cookies.
We learned a brand new song by Jill Nesi, not yet released! The song is all about our emotions.

Goodbye Winter.. Hello sounds of SPRING!
Hello sounds of SPRING!
The first graders have been learning about sound and vibration.
Ask a first grader how to experience vibration with "head harps” and “secret bells”.
Through the use of our homemade "sound chambers," we tried to identify sounds and learn about their different properties.
How much vibration can you see, feel, and hear with a "book fiddle"?
We are getting started with our "Carton 2 Garden" STEAM challenge - Let's Reduce, Recycle and Repurpose those milk containers! Stay tuned for more on this.
The Kindergarten EGG DROP CHALLENGE!
After reading Dr. Seuss's, Horton Hatches an Egg, each team received an egg. Their goal?...To keep the egg 100% safe, just like Horton did. They planned and designed a contraption to keep the egg safe after a 9 foot drop. The kids worked under time constraints just like engineers do. They had to get their design plan approved before building and then... THE DROP!
After Reading "The Egg" by M.P. Robertson, the PreSchoolers each designed a one-of-a-kind colorful egg. We are hoping a dragon does not hatch out of our eggs!
